R&W Scott have been handcrafting jams and preserves from their site in Carluke in Central Scotland for over 130 years.

They approached me to develop a set of characters to represent the main three areas of their business – preserves, sauces and baking supplies. I began by visiting the factory and taking notes and photographs to get a feel for the tools and machines used and the uniforms worn by staff. Each character appears in a scene based on my research. The key ingredients of each sector were also used to create a more simplistic icon for each category.

I then translated these illustrations into a truck design alongside the existing logo.

“It was a real pleasure working with Tom. He more than answered the brief we had developed by bringing suggestions to improve what we were aiming to achieve.”
