Milngavie Reservoirs illustrated map

I created this illustrated map as a collaborative project with interpretive design specialists Tea and Type, to support new way-finding and information boards being designed and installed at Scottish Water’s Milngavie Reservoir site.

The process began with visits to the site to survey, sketch and photograph the site, then the map was created and refined in stages with feedback from the clients and locals.

The map includes illustrations of buildings and landmarks, and a selection of plants and wildlife that can be seen on site. Other challenges included visualising the varying terrain and accessibility of the footpaths, labelling locations and facilities, and creating a detailed inset of the central hub of the area.

The map is displayed on renovated stone plinths at three locations around the reservoir, where you can also see other information boards created by Tea and Type. Another similar map is in the works for a second Scottish Water location too.
